Early 19th C. Calfskin Cov Box Dover NH & 3 Taconic Baskets

Description

A nice lot consisting of an early to mid 19th century Dover, New Hampshire labeled calf skin covered document box w/brass tacks and original lock, plus 3 diminunitive Taconic style baskets. Dome top box has some loss/shrinkage to the calfskin covering, Lid has the initials in brass tacks of either J.A.W. or J.W. (cross arm on the letter A is not defined). Some loose tacks/hardware present inside the box which exhibits a wonderful label by D.H. Wendell, proprietor of the Dover Trunk Store offering a variety of goods from Fire Buckets to Harness & Tack. Original polkadot paper liner inside the trunk, domed lid is separated from the trunk body. Three taconic style baskets, each only 5" in height. Two exhibit some damage, one is initialed A.P., final basket in good shape.
