Description
This is an uber-rare lantern, of which less than five are known. This is a Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railroad Adlake Reliable switchmans lantern. Also known as the CRANDIC, this lantern is cast with C.R & I.C. RY on the chimney. Has patent dates of 1908, 1909, 1911, 1912, 1913, and 1922. This is one of the last versions of the tall globe Reliable model. Has a cast clear Corning CNX globe with C.R & I.C.RY etched on the front. Globe is excellent with no cracks or chips. Lantern is in amazing condition, with loads of wonderful shiny tinware. The grandfather of the consignor was an engineer with the CRANDIC, and has consigned us this amazing piece, along with others for our future sales. If you are a serious Iowa railroad collector or a CRANDIC enthusiast, this is a must-have!
