A 2012 Gibson Golden Age 1930’s SJ-200 acoustic guitar, serial #10082016, in sunburst finish. Owned and played on stage and in-studio by John Sebastian, famous for his impromptu performance at Woodstock (1969), as well as his hit songs with The Lovin’ Spoonful which include “Do You Believe In Magic”, “Summer in the City”, “You Didn’t Have to be So Nice”, and many others. Sebastian has also worked with the likes of Bob Dylan, David Grisman, Arlen Roth, Jimmy Vivino, Andy Cashdollar, and many, many more. Sebastian used this guitar while working with Cashdollar, Grisman, Roth, Vivino, and according to Sebastian, “an assortment of jug bands.” ??

Only 75 of this model of Gibson Golden Age SJ-200 were made, with half produced with maple back and sides, the other half with rosewood. This particular guitar has the much more desirable rosewood back and sides, along with a spruce top which Sebastian praises for it’s “woof” in his included, handwritten letter to its new owner.

Sunburst finish on the top and back of the 25.5” scale length three piece flamed maple neck, multi-ply bound headstock with mother of pearl Gibson script logo and “crown” inlays, six gold Grover Imperial tuners, with a pick wedged under the truss rod cover. Bound 20-fret ebony fretboard with mother of pearl inlays. Multi-ply binding on the top and back of the body, multi-ply sound hole rosette, ebony mustache bridge with mother of pearl inlays, engraved plastic tortoise shell pickguard, and added rosewood armrest. Comes with Gibson Custom Shop case with built-in hygrometer, with a tan exterior and a green interior.
