Description
The molded plate is decorated with sepia transfers of a Japanese fan, birds flying, cherry blossoms and bamboo. The border is very ornate and geometric. The plate is glazed with a cream-colored glaze which feels soft and worn.
The plate’s foot shallow, rounded and glazed. The base has a transfer mark that reads FORMOSA T. FURNIVAL & SONS with a diamond shape, numbers and letters. There is also a stamped number in the clay, as well as a transfer with a portion of a number.
MEASUREMENTS
8” (20.3 cm) diameter x ¾” (1.9 cm) deep. Weighs 10.7 oz (305 g)
CONDITION
There are no breaks, cracks or repairs. There is a small glaze chip just under the rim. There is wear to the interior well. There are a few spots where the transfer is a bit lighter.
A very pretty Aesthetic Movement from the Victorian Era plate to add to your collection or to decorate with.
