Unknown European Manufacturer. Produced and Sold Early 1900's18" Wide x 18" Deep x 9" Tall. Such types of wagering toys are referred to as a "Jeu de Course", or racing game. Most often, they depict various configurations of horses and jockeys circling the race track. However, there are also Jeu de Course toys that depict airplanes, automobiles, boats and bicycles. The present toy on offer is the larger version of the Jeu de Course with bicycles. When wound up and set in motion, the four hand-painted cyclists are seen circling around the track as they pass thru upright gates. The toy is in superior condition and works well.
