An exceptional collection of approx. 730 rare engraved color plates by W.P. Clubb after drawings by Frost, printed in oil colors by George Baxter. Paper size 10” x 12.5”. Collection consists of: 126 copies of Plate 1. 124 copies of Plate 3. 108 copies of Plate 6. 131 copies of Plate 7. 115 copies of Plate 9. 119 copies of Plate 10.In 1846 George Baxter was commission to print a suite of 11 astronomical prints for the private use of the Muggletonians, a British religious sect founded in the 17th C. The prints were produced to illustrate Isaac Frost’s book, “Two Systems of Astronomy”. Neither the books nor prints were intend for public distribution, but only for use by the sect members. This collection, consisting of 6 of the original 11 plates, was discovered in 1983, stored in building that was once the private library of the Muggletonians, closed in 1860. The whereabouts of the other 5 plates is unknown, possibly destroyed in the London Blitz in 1941.

All with toning to edges, staining, and minor tears, personal inspection is recommended.
