Description

Gilt bronze slightly under 1" height with a swelled beaded central column superimposed on the crescent moon, with matching large bulbous terminals representing Sol the sun and Mani the Moon. Medial drop, with trefoil terminal, a favorite Viking form. As expert navigators, the constellations signified mystery and power to Vikings. Lunar pendants were worn as pectorals as well as suspended from belts, other clothing and horse harnesses. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored for contemporary wear. On a modern gilt neck chain, jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
