Description
Mezcala culture of the current state of Guerrero. 2.9" height, meticulously fashioned onyx. A standing male of characteristic foreshortened stature, wearing an incised loin cloth and prominent ear spools. The right arm at his side and the left drawn to the chest. The facial features are especially nicely sculpted with carefully carved eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks and hairline. The Mezcala are noted and highly regarded for their stone sculpture which more commonly is of jadeite. Onyx is quite rare.
