A Waura (aka Wauja) Painted Wood Mask Upper Xingu river region, Mata Grosso, Brazil, c. 20th century An oval wood plank painted on one side in black and white in a design representing a mythological creature. A long palm grass mantle attached to one end. In good condition, stable crack at top and bottom. Accompanied by two wood pointed dance wands painted with black bands and dots.
