UNUSUAL CASED RECORD OF THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON'S BATTLES

Fruitwood case contains a circular bust portrait print of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, and a set of nine paper disks handwritten with the names and dates of battles in which Wellington participated. (Most disks double-sided.) A tenth disk for the battle of Amara is affixed to the bottom of the box. Also includes a paper disk handwritten "By His Consummate Skill as a General He has rais'd the British Army to the highest excellence & Himself to be the most noble & exalted Hero In the Annals of History".
Case diameter 2.125".

Most disks are two sheets of thinner paper glued together, probably at the time of making. Disks with light handling wear but are generally well-preserved. Portrait print is a little large for case. Case with minor roughness but is also in good condition for its age.
