Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Kayenta Black-on-White type, ca. 1000 to 1200 CE. A tall and wide pottery bowl of hemispherical form bearing a stable base, a thick rim, and a protruding loop handle on one side. Within the white-ground basin surface features a dense conglomeration black-painted linear motifs including spirals, thick stripes, and stepped blocks, and the circular center is undecorated. The exterior loop handle was perhaps used to suspend the vessel when it was not in use. Size: 9.5" L x 8.75" W x 5.4" H (24.1 cm x 22.2 cm x 13.7 cm)

Professional repair and restoration to areas of rim and body, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Chips to rim and handle, with fading to original pigment within basin, and scattered pitting, otherwise in nice condition. Attractive motif within basin.
