"Sough" by Toko Shinoda (1913-2021) Calligraphy Brushstroke Lithograph 49/50. Renowned worldwide, Shinoda Toko's brushstroke paintings and prints have left an indelible mark on the art scene. In 1983, Time Magazine dedicated an article to her, elevating her artistic achievements to the level of Pablo Picasso's. Print works form a significant part of Shinoda Toko's oeuvre, with lithography being her preferred medium. This choice seamlessly complements her distinctive style. Much like her calligraphy, she applies spontaneous brush strokes to the plate, often hand-coloring each lithograph afterward, ensuring each copy bears an individual touch. The edition sizes of her print works are intentionally small, typically limited to no more than 50 copies. This piece named "Sough" is numbered 49/50. Pencil signed on right bottom by artist & no.
