Aymara Aksus Woman's Overskirt, Early-Mid 19th C. This ceremonial textile features a brown field with a float span design in the upper panel, which is of Inca origin. It comes from the Province of Arque in the Department of Cochabamba and is made using natural dyes. This textile is traditionally used at festivals, marriages, and other important community events. Notably, very few Aksus display these Inca-origin design colors, including distinctive details like sky blue. Size: 3'3'' x 4'2'' (99 x 127 cm).
