Helpful and responsive
I was somewhat concerned when I read a previous review where another buyer claimed he was given only 2 exorbitant shipping options and alleged that some fraud is going on. This is simply untrue. I arranged for the shipping of my bidded item independently with Fedex. Steve from Woodstock was very responsive and proactive in assisting with the shipping, and even proactively dropped off the item at Fedex's office. The item received came exactly as described. The overall experience with Woodstock Auctions has been a pleasant one.

Beware of Deceptive Practices and False Advertising at Woodstock Auction
I should have heeded the prior negative reviews before bidding. I urge all potential bidders to be extremely cautious when dealing with Woodstock Auction. I purchased what was advertised as an original “painting” from the "estate sale of Nien Cheng." However, upon receiving the item, it was clear that the so-called “ink on paper painting "was merely a low-quality print. I spent considerable time communicating with the seller about their alleged provenance, which was my main reason for bidding given the prevalence of imitation Cixi paintings. When I requested additional information, the auction house refused to provide any real assistance. They issued an internally created “Certificate of Sale” with no evidentiary value. I then contacted the executor of Nien Cheng's estate, who confirmed that there had been no estate sales in years. The entire claim of “property sale from the estate of Nien Cheng” was false. Upon receiving the item, I discovered it was a cheap print, not an actual painting, which was later confirmed by an accredited art appraiser. I filed a chargeback, and only then did the auction house offer a conditional refund but refused to cover return shipping costs. They cited their “sold as is” policy to evade responsibility. Even setting aside the fictional provenance, a painting and a print are materially different. If you think you’re buying a computer but receive a toy computer, “sold as is” does not apply. Their unethical and potentially illegal practices are not worth any potential bid. I suggest potential bidders look up Peter Combs and Woodstock Auction video online before considering a bid. They seem to have a history of misrepresenting their items 'nature and value, exploiting the trust of art collectors and enthusiasts. I have filed a complaint with the Georgia Attorney General’s office to investigate their deceptive practices and will also seek legal recourse in the court of law.
