One of the best auction houses

I always enjoy auctions at Matthew Bullock Auctioneers. They have excellent items that add to my collections or make specials gifts for my friends. Matthew Bullock is so easy to do business with-a truly professional organization!

Auction: The description did not indicate that the items came from a smoker's home. All of my items arrived smelling very strongly of cigarette smoke. Shipping: This was the worst part of the experience. You don't get a shipping price estimate before choosing the auction house to ship or not, and if it turns out to be too high you still have to pay for some or all of it because they've already done the packing work. It was $94USD to ship three model cars, which was shocking since I had recently had five shipped to me from a retailer (over a thousand miles further away) for $45USD and the packaging was similar. Bullock packed the items well/safely. When they arrived I had to pay another $44CDN for sales tax (that's fine) and a surprise $35CDN "BROK FEE". So it appears I had to pay for them to do the customs procedure, almost as much as the sales tax. I assumed that for the outrageously high shipping price it would include any customs fees, similar to how ebay does cross-border shipping. More Fees: There was a "processing fee" of $10 (which wasn't the buyer's premium), not sure if that was hidden in the small print somewhere. Overall my $200 purchase ended up costing me $400 and the items all arrived smelling like cigarettes. I won't/can't afford to buy from Matthew Bullock Auctioneers again.

Lots of hidden fees and overpriced shipping which inflated pricing. I definitely overpaid and could've gotten cheaper elsewhere like Ebay. Would not do again.

Delicate Item well done by this Auction House!

MB is a really good auction house. The ads and photos are never enough to get a really good idea of what you're spending hundreds/thousands on; longer descriptions and more photos would be wonderful. I'm hundreds of miles away and can't make the preview. But, compared to some other auction houses, which post a 1-sentence description and two photos/scans, MB is better than most. The majority of items I've won have been pretty close to the description. When I've had questions, they were answered within a reasonable time. The auctions run smoothly; I'm normally contacted almost immediately with an invoice and info on shipping. The shipping quote comes within a couple days, and a tracking number follows shortly after that. I've participated in five or six MB auction over the past couple years and plan to continue to participate.

Buyers beware of their shipping procedures. I would expect an auction house to be more professional in their shipping skills. Collectibles should not be allowed to rub and bang against each other during shipping, no matter what their value is. I received my items in a pile in a plastic bag like a garage sale. I am very disappointed.

Shipping Saint services wrapped for 4 necklace charms and 1 ring in one half of a 12 "x 12" bubble wrap, crumpled 1 piece of paper on the bottom of a 7 x 7 box and 2 above the bubble wrap. USPS ground advantage, counter cost, calculates at $8.85. $28.58 packing supplies and packing. This was not a lengthy, delicate or needing lots of packing attention box. Love Matthew Bullock Auctions but I will have to evaluate the impact of Shipping Saint when i bid in the future.

Everything was as expected, professional packing and fast shipment.
