A limited series travel agency model of the S. S. America designed by William Francis Gibbs for the United States Lines. Launched in 1940, S.S. America previewed many of Gibb's design themes that later evolved with the larger S.S. United States. At 723 feet, the ship achieved almost 26 mph and served a long career under many flags until 1979. This Van Ryper cased full hull model is very rare and measures 6 1/2" wide x 8" high x 26" long (case dimensions)
