Zhu Da, Flowers and birds. Handscoll. Zhu Da (1626 - about 1705), whose original name was Zhu Tong, also known as Ben'an, also known as Bada Shanren, Xuege, Geshan, Renwu, Daolang, etc. When he became a monk, he was given the name Chuanxi, Han nationality, and a native of Nanchang, Jiangxi. A painter from the late Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, he was a master of Chinese painting. Ming Dynasty survivors.Zhu Da is the ninth grandson of Zhu Quan, the seventeenth son of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty. After the death of the Ming Dynasty, he became a monk and lived in Qingyunpu Taoist Temple in Nanchang. He is good at calligraphy and painting. In his early years, he adopted the calligraphy method of Huang Tingjian. Flowers and birds are mainly freehand brushwork in ink, with exaggerated and strange images. The brushwork is condensed and solemn, and the style is majestic and timeless. Dong Qichang, a master of landscape painting, uses concise brushwork, a sense of tranquility, and a sense of sparseness. He is good at calligraphy, poetry and prose, and rarely uses ink.
