COUNTERTOP ADVERTISING AUTOMATON SIGN LIFTER
Likely French, circa 1920, electrical, papier m?ch? head and hands. Original metal cabinet holds the mechanical 'magician' with original clothing and top hat. When turned on the magician goes down to grab one of the twelve (12) original signs in line and rises to display the sign forward while the magician motions and moves his head about, then dropping the sign to a forward position in the cabinet, then the figures lowers and grabs the next sign inline and rises again, and repeats. The sign lifter was originally used by "Conrad Inc. - St. Louis", as identified by the name plate front and center on the cabinet.
