Description
A beige rotary dial telephone, stamped "Western Electric / Made In USA / G3". The telephone was used by John Lennon and Yoko Ono during their Bed-In For Peace at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, Canada from May 26 to June 2, 1969. Together with a metal bottle opener and a coat hanger, both marked "The Queen Elizabeth". Accompanied by a Letter of Provenance.
All three items were originally owned by Sylvie, an employee at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel and a huge Beatles fan, who acquired them from the hotel room that John and Yoko stayed in during the Bed-In for Peace. The event was an anti-war protest, where John and Yoko invited in the world's media to give a series of interviews to promote peace. They also recorded Lennon's first single "Give Peace a Chance", which became an anthem for American anti-war protestors in the 1970s.
