Won an item on February 20, 2019-paid right away-paid all shipping charges (Which were far higher than expected) as soon as presented. It has been over a month and I have received no indication as to when I may expect delivery. I would stay away from these people.

I emailed them multiple times to get shipping quotes before I bid, but no one responded. So I just bid taking the risk that I could estimate the costs. Also, they aren't very clear up front about payment methods. when I asked, they said credit cards are fine, plus a 3 % mark-up, which I accept is normal. Despite saying they accept AmEx, the claimed my Amex was not authorized. This is false, as I called AmEx directly and they had no record of even seeing an attempt to use it. I suspect they were trying to get out of using AmEx fees. It would be amazing if you at LiveAuctioneers offered a payment system for all auction houses in the way that 1stdibs standardizes payments. I don't feel comfortable doing bank transfers and sometimes wish to space out payments rather than pay all up front.

The shipping firm used by this auction house gave an inflated estimate which was almost as much as the items I won had cost. When I emailed the auction house about the excessive estimate and requesting names of other shippers, it didn't provide any additional names. I had to email the shipper giving details about past shipping costs I had paid for items from Italy and Austria. I requested cheaper shipping by mail and it did so giving an estimate which was about one third of the first estimate. I. received the shipment yesterday not realizing that the three textile fragments were in glass cases one of which was cracked.

I received a lot damaged and broken instead of being in a good condition as described by the auction house. Auction house admitted to making a mistake and providing wrong condition report for a different item not the one I was buying. But one month and a half later the auction issued no reimbursement for the mistake they made.
