A PLACE OF SURPRISES & SUPER STUFF

Somehow I gave UPS the wrong delivery address, so I contacted Clars, who said they couldn't do anything abt it as the lamp had already been picked up (which was reasonable). So then I sent UPS four emails telling them abt the situation and got NO response; then I got two completely garbled phone messages from them and couldn't make out one word. THEN I got a bill from them for the delivery charges but didn't yet have the lamp. I was mulling over calling their 800 number (dreading the inevitable response, "We are experiencing an unusually large number of calls now... Your call is important to us...") when what to my wondering eyes should appear the very next day, at my front door, but-a large box from UPS with my lamp in it-yay! I love that lamp-just love it. Unfortunately I didn't have a lightbulb that would fit (too long, for some reason), but I ordered some shorter ones that should be here any day now. So after much "Sturm und Drang" my lamp is sitting on the table awaiting shorter bulbs, which I hope will come soon. Thanks Clars and, eventually, UPS.

T. h Robsjohn-Gibbings Klismos Chair was claimed as an original but when delivered no brass label and carved greek letters. I took it to another auction house and they told me that was a copy. I called them and explained that this chair in order to be original should have any of the marks but they dismissed me. I have not been able to sale this chair because the copies are much cheaper than the price I paid them.

I was impressed with all the services and consideration that were extended to me. They're commitment to provide high quality goods, and to insure satisfaction for the buyer; helped my experience be as flawless as possible. This is my go-to option in the greater Bay Area.

Purchased an item purported to be from the estate of Mr. Robin Williams. Received no paperwork of any kind stating this-not even a printed invoice. Asked them for information on two separate occasions and have no received a response of any kind. Please note: I do not require that they validate this. Had I required that I'd have firmed that up prior to bidding. However, this is the first time ever I've not received some sort of written invoice, and also is the first time ever I've communicated with an auction house receiving no response of any kind. Therefore, this review is for the lack of response. I do not appreciate a necessity to leave a bad review. I do not enjoy spreading negativity, but I do think this is important information for the bidding public to have. Was a bit surprised it came with no documentation from you RE: COA/provenance. As it was shipped via a third party I'm wondering if this was perhaps provided to them and they neglected to transmit it? I literally received only the item. I've never received an item from an auction house without some sort of documentation. If it was an omission on their part, might I get a replacement? Great items and fun in bidding on them

I had been bidding through Live Auctioneers for several years. 15 % buyers premium is normal so when I got a notice about this auction, I assumed that it was a 15 % buyers premium. Boy was I surprised when I got the invoice. That is why if you assume anything it makes an **********.. out of U and ME. Then I found out that they give no shipping help at all. You are totally on your own to find someone to pick up the items and ship them to me. When I called them for shipping help, I was referred to a place that was out of business. It cost me over $100.00 to have three coins shipped to me. I bought 10 Buffaloe 1oz gold coins from another site and the shipping was only $45.00. What a total rip off all around. never, Never again will I ever consider bidding on their Clars site again!

I fully appreciate the professionalism of Clars Auction Gallery for its auction and shipping procedures. The painting by Ihles, when it arrived, was exactly what the photos and description presented.

I live outside the US, therefore the back-office service was essential for me. Very helpful, prompt to respond and willing to go the extra-mile. Item was in perfect condition and was very satisfied.

Clars lists really interesting art, their support service is professional and their shipping vendors have reasonable prices and know their craft.
