Bad experience with this so called profesional auction house. Their answer: I should have come to see it myself from Amsterdam. Although I asked if it was okay and checked the describtion.

Be aware that this Auction House charges a minimum buyer’s premium of $49.00. So a $7 item (plus the BP, service and handling fee, sales tax, fee for using a credit card) came to $92.17 BEFORE shipping! Then they shipped a 9.5” x 6” item in an oversized box of 18” x18” x18”. All together, almost a $145.00 mistake! Will not be doing business with them again.

Ease of transaction

This was a $500 item for which, in addition to the usual 25 % buyer's premium, sales tax, etc., they charged another $250, or 50 %, for "shipping and handling", for an item that was not large nor heavy, and for which they used FedEx Ground, not Air, and added no special services, no rush delivery, no signature confirmation, nothing. Just greedy since they already have your purchase commitment. Plus they then sign you up for every future auction they have, for which I am still trying to get off their lists. Beware.

As one would expect from Heritage, a Wonderful Auction and items. Easy from bidding to a super In-House shipping. Everything was 100 %.

The staff at Heritage are outstanding. They are professional, but friendly and welcoming. And they are truly helpful. They take extra steps to ensure that bidders 'questions are fully answered and their needs are met. They are knowledgeable about items and are willing to share their expertise. I highly recommend Heritage Auctions to anyone who is looking for high quality items in excellent condition.

Heritage has more of a corporate feel to it as auction houses go, with separate departments and so on. It's well run, professional, and I have no complaints. Packing was excellent (fragile item) and shipping was expedient. I would do business with Heritage again.

Lot was just 2 matted prints-no frames. packaged with 4-5 layers cardboard then an outer box covering. med/large box. that packaging saved these prints. something heavy fell against box & you could see dent in top & crease where box almost bent down the middle. without very strong packaging would have bent in half down the middle. all went very smooth...

Post sale service is extremely poor. I would not buy from Heritage Auctions again
