Estate of Dr. Virginia Utermohlen Lovelace

Finger Lakes Estate and Auction Company is pleased to offer a collection of scarce antique Dutch books, etchings, paintings and ephemera from the distinguished Utermohlen family. This collection, lovingly curated by Paul T. Utermohlen, is offered for sale by his daughter, Dr. Virginia Utermohlen Lovelace, recently-retired professor of Nutritional Science at Cornell University. The books and artwork for sale at this auction display the collector?s passion for the city of Amsterdam, and for works of Dutch military and economic history. The Paul Laszlo table and chair set, and the Torino chrome robot lamps, convey the taste of Mr. Utermohlen?s wife and daughter for mid-century, modern decor, contrasted with a few ornate pieces of antique French and Sicilian furniture. In addition to the pieces from the fine Utermohlen collection are a selection of hand-picked, modern signed books, including first printings, as well as original works of art, and a sizable collection of antique regalia from the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Masonic Lodge in Center Lisle, NY.
