19th & 20th Century Prints & Drawings

A large two-session auction of 19th & 20th Century Prints & Drawings at Swann Galleries on Tuesday, September 14th features a 1934 oil on card stock painting by Russian Expressionist Painter Alexei von Jawlensky; as well as many works by Picasso, including the scarce early etching, Mere et Fils, 1922 and a faïence pitcher entitled Bearded Man's Wife, 1953. Nineteenth-century European print highlights include scarce lithographs by Degas and Thornley and a small run of works by Gauguin. Among 20th-century European print highlights are works by Kandinsky, Matisse, Chagall and several Dalí portfolios. There are also drawings by Toulouse-Lautrec, Klimt, Grosz and Matisse. Featured American artists include Calder, Bearden and Castellon.
