CIVIL WAR & COLLECTIBLE AUCTION

Austin Auction Gallery will offer an exceptional collection from two estates and other consignments. Mr. Ernest Gibson began collecting US Civil War weapons in the late 1960’s. His interest in historic items has roots that began at his boyhood home in Corinth, Mississippi. Memories began as a child exploring and playing on Mississippi Civil War battlefields and finding artifacts, some of which are included in this auction. Mr. Gibson served as an officer of a combat engineer battalion in the WWII European theatre. His uniform from those days, and a weapon confiscated from a German P.O.W. are a part of this auction. Later, while the C.E.O. of a 1000 employee company, Gibson began seeking the best, battle used, swords and guns he could purchase. His collection includes weapons manufactured by a number of different companies, many rare pieces and most in superb condition. A second estate has contributed a pocket knife and straight razor collection and gold coins. Other nice collectibles round out this desirable offering.
