Chinese, European and Islamic arts
The second day of our two-day sale starts with a collection of Chinese carvings: jade, soapstone and other natural materials. A number of lots containg Chinese silver, wood carvings and textiles, bring us to the paintings section of the sale. Noteworthy here, is the work by Chinese artist Sadji, lot 828. The morning session of this sale ends with a varied selection of Chinese porcelain, including fine Kangxi famille verte, Transitional period wares and a number of unusual late Qing pieces.
The afternoon holds more surprises, as the collection of blue and white Kangxi porcelain is presented here. The final section of the Asian sale is reserved for fine famille rose and export porcelain, and contains a number of attractive ruby-back eggshell plates of very high quality!
This brings us to our collection of fine European ceramics and decorative arts, joined by a small group of Islamic works.
