Auction XXXIV - Autographs & Memorabilia

Signature House presents our 34th offering of over 1000 lots. Closing in two Live sessions, collectors may choose from a worthy selection of vintage and contemporary historical autographs, documents, manuscripts and related collectibles in all categories. Most sought after are the Signers of the Declaration of Independence and Presidents from Washington to George Bush. Of note is an uncommon Revolutionary War-date document signed by John Hancock, as President of the Second Continental Congress assembled in the de facto capital at Baltimore in 1777, and by Charles Thomson, the only two signatories to appear in the famous Dunlap broadside on July 4, 1776. These plus Washington's generals De Kalb and von Steuben, among others. There are Civil War leaders and generals plus the famous Confederate spy Belle Boyd. We are pleased to offer a small handwritten music sketch penned by Ludwig van Beethoven from one of his celebrated sketchbook studies, and an array of other classical music and operatic autographs. We also have vintage Lindbergh photos, one with President Calvin Coolidge, and a large number of astronauts, some signed over 25 years ago. An original Matisse drawing highlights our Artists category. First Printing signed books include A Streetcar Named Desire and To Kill a Mockingbird. Military collectors can choose from Horatio Nelson or Napoleon to World War II notables. A handwritten letter by Peter the Great leads our heads of state. A great selection of vintage to contemporary entertainment figures include Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles. A signed photograph by Babe Ruth highlights our collection of old-timers and contemporary sports notables. From novices to the most sophisticated, we have autographs sure to enhance any collection.
