Happy Valley Farms & Judd Collection
Clements June 2020 auction features two prominent estates from the foothills of Georgia.
Happy Valley Farms, generational homestead of the Hutcheson family, served as local dairy for many years before coming the one of country's foremost breeders and trainers of American Saddlebred horses. The family home, a 1920s Greek Revival mansion, kept a world span of fine antique furnishings and decorative arts, including an important collection of porcelain bird models from Dorothy Doughty, Boehm, and others. Suberb examples of early American and Georgian furniture, notably a George III breakfront made for the Earl of Roseberry.
The Judd Collection offers an heirloom collection of Asian decorative arts. Jane Judd Deck, notable resident of Whitfield and Walker counties, inherited the collection from her parents. Her father and mother, a successful industrialist and missionary of the early 1900s, made many trips to China for business and mission work. Collection includes fine examples of porcelain of the Qing dynasty.
