June 20 | Gallery Auction

There are so many reasons to discover Michaan’s Auctions this month. The colorful Kandinsky woodcut and the linocut by Louise Nevelson, Chiura Obata’s 1948 ink on paper “In the Clouds,” and “Cowboy on Horseback” by California artist Edward Borein (1872-1945). The charming lady carved of alabaster by a 19th-century Florentine sculptor, and “Boxing Match,” the oil and pastel by Edy-Legrand, dynamic 20th- century French illustrator and painter. In fine jewelry, gold is abundant and colorful precious gemstones lead the highlights. Ruby, tanzanite and Tahitian black cultured pearl rings are offered. The 14k yellow gold necklace features thirty-seven bezel-set stones including pink tourmaline, blue topaz, amethyst and citrine. Estate jewels include the pendant brooch of emeralds and diamonds surrounding a stunning emerald cabochon. Great style is easily found in the furniture department, with a red leather English library chair, brightly-painted Dutch armoire and Karl Springer’s fabulous snakeskin tables on offer this month. Fine silver, gilt mirrors, handmade carpets and porcelain by Meissen, Locre and Rosenthal are among the auction’s many fine estate pieces.
