Pre-Colombian & Ethnographic Art ~Lithic Art

Mankind's use of stone tools dates to more than 2.6 million years. Our relationship to these stones formed quickly, they facilitated us with hunting, gathering, and protection, and we cared for them, and kept them sharp. The Oldowan toolkits (2.0 -1.5 million years ago) included hammerstones, stone cores, and sharp stone flakes. As our tools improved, the nutritional benefits enabled our minds to do so as well. At around 100,000 BC our lithic journey quickly takes us from tools to sculpture, beads, cave painting, architecture, and Art. In this auction we will look at the lithic journey of mankind, and the influence stones had on ancient cultures. ***All objects offered for sale have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and are guaranteed to be as described.
