The Beat Generation, rock stars, Gisele Bundchen! - Michaan's welcomes spring with a buzzy Gallery Auction energized by exciting works of art, glamorous jewels and much more. "Birth," a 1958 Bruce Conner painting purchased from the artist by the current owner, is offered at $25,000-$35,000. Also offered are portraits of Keith Richards and Mick Jagger by Annie Leibovitz, and a fierce mixed media study of Bundchen by Raphael Mazzucco (b. 1965), artist and fashion photographer. "Waves," a captivating 1985 seascape by Pop artist James Gill, is another fine art find. Jewelry includes jadeite jade and colored gemstones - a big, luscious brown diamond ring, a pendant of deep blue tanzanite - and chic diamond pieces such as the glittering geometric statement necklace in 14k yellow gold. Estate jewels include the Peruvian "story teller" 18k gold bracelet, a marvel of fine detail work ($3,000-$5,000). The selection of furniture is wonderfully diverse, from the Flemish inlaid walnut octagonal table ($400-$600) to the George Nakashima free edge slab table ($4,000-$6,000). March Gallery Auction finds range from Dresden china to silver by Taxco's Emilia Castillo. Asian art highlights include the pair of huanghuali horseshoe armchairs; large and exceptional "peach bloom" and famille rose porcelains; and the calligraphy couplet scrolls attributed to Zhang Daqian (1899-1983), estimated at $3,500-$4,500 for the pair.
