Outstanding Two - Day Maritime Auction

700 lot maritime auction will be held in boston at Boston Harbor Auctions. This will be a sale of great interest to nautical collectors. Items on offer include museum deaccessions, private collections from Chatham, Duxbury and Westwood Mass, Watch Hill Rhode Island etc.. A solid sterling silver model of Mayflower weighing 329 ounces built by English silversmith Richard Comyns will be offered. Built to exacting scale , the 32 inch model is all silver, including masts, sails, rigging cords , etc. It is estimated to sell at 75,000. to 100,000. dollars. One of the rarest diving helmets in the world is on offer. It is the personal helmet of world renowned deep sea diver Otis Barton, famous for his record setting dives in his Bathysphere, reaching a depth of 4500 feet. This helmet is an A J Morse and Son “four bolt “ design circa 1892. Over 100 exceptional ship models in the sale including a highly detailed Napoleonic Prisoner of War model, boardroom builders models, vintage pond yachts,tugs, lightships, dioramas, clippers, frigates, and steam yachts. Marine paintings of interest include a painting of Admiral Vernon and his son circa 1740 by Sir Joshua Reynolds,the English Master, an elegant oil of the steam yacht Venetia by Edouard Adam and an Antonio Jacobsen of the packet ship George Hurlbut. Also a paddle steamer by Samuel Walters and a lakefront scene by Edmund Darch Lewis.
