Asian works of Art at Stair features fine and decorative arts from many cultures of the Far East including China, Japan, Korea, India and Southeast Asia. On offer are a selection of notable porcelain, pottery, hardstone, bronze, lacquer and carved wood objects. We are pleased to feature a dedicated group of Chinese, Japanese and Korean furniture ranging from simple huanghuali chairs to intricate lacquer chests. Presented alongside the decorative arts is an exciting group of fine art including bold and bright Indian gouaches, lyrical Chinese scrolls and graphic Japanese prints. Highlights include a rare group of pottery from the famed Ohtagaki Rengetsu, a Japanese Buddhist nun a poet and potter whose life spanned the 18th and 19th centuries, an important Chinese striking large scale and serene carved stone head of Buddha from the esteemed Collection of Ambassador and Mrs. Joseph Verner Reed, and a group of Japanese woodblocks by Utagawa Kuniyoshi from the Collection of Dr. Daniel and Myrna Clyman.
