Winter Asian Art & Antiques, Session 1
Oakridge is pleased to announce its last auction of the year: a Winter Asian Art & Antiques sale packed with an array of exciting lots of Chinese art. Scheduled for December 1-2, 2021, this auction will feature nearly 600 lots separated into two sessions: Session 1 - Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art beginning at 9 am EST on December 1st, and Session 2 - Appreciating Extravagance: Chinese Artwork from an Important Collection in Ohio beginning at 9 am EST on December 2nd.
Session 1: Boasting over 250 lots, Session 1 is packed with amazing lots of Chinese art dating from the Spring & Autumn period through to the modern day. There are beautiful carvings in all shapes, sizes, and types of jade; unique porcelains; and other works of art including sculpted bronzes, wood carvings, and delicate textiles like embroidered dragon robes and painted thangkas.
The highlight of the session is Lot 95, a magnificent Chinese bronze statue of Guanyin which comes with a carved, wooden stand. It is a beautiful and clear example of Ming Dynasty metalwork with elaborately rendered details in the face, crown, and jewelry. The stand is nearly as large as the statue itself, with carefully sculpted lotus petals reaching up towards Guanyin and her gesture of meditation. This exquisite piece is estimated at $9,000 - 12,000 USD.
Bidding is available online via Invaluable, LiveAuctioneers, HiBid, 51BidLive, or Artfox Live; by telephone; and by absentee bidding.
