Join partners David Rago, Jerry Cohen, and Suzanne Perrault for this 1000 lot sale which offers a great selection of ceramics, exceptional tiles and brings back Craftsman furniture to Lambertville, NJ. The always-desirable George Ohr will be represented with over 30 pieces from a private collection. Certain to draw attention are many important pieces of Grueby. One exceptional piece is a Grueby Kendrick vase in a rare or organic matte mustard glaze from the estate of the original owner. It is one of only three ochre and handled Kendrick vases known to exist. Also offered is an exceptional Dirk Van Erp 24" table lamp, pre-1915, is also from the private estate of the original owner in California. Two major Newcomb College collections are offered, but the showstopper is an early and very rare 10" Newcomb College charger painted by Mary Sheerer. Collectors of Tiffany will be thrilled to find an exquisite 30 1/2" x 23" leaded glass window depicting a mountainous landscape with river. Provenance is available for this very usable size window. Offered among the furniture is a complete Roycroft bedroom set with original finish, an early Gustav Stickley Pencil Post Settle and an early magazine stand. A large triple door L & JG Stickley Onondago Shops bookcase is for sale as well as a rare Limbert trapezoidal cutout hall chair and 72" console table. Also offered are two Gustav Stickley hanging lanterns. For tile collectors, this auction is the best to date. Several important tiles will be offered including a truly unique Grueby mosaic tile panel depicting Saint Louis on horseback and measuring 48" x 42 1/2". Another exceptional piece is a Hartford Faience mosaic tile called "Eventide." An amazing Newcomb College plaque carved with Spanish moss and an exceptional Grueby tile decorated in cuenca and cuerda seca with a depiction of Saint George Slaying the Dragon and a pair of Johann Von Schwarz tiles decorated in cuenca with maidens round out the top items in the sale.
