From Old Master works on paper to early 20th century genre paintings, the European and American Fine Art sale features paintings, drawings and prints from a myriad of artists in a variety of styles and motifs in the Western art canon. Academic studies and early Continental landscape views complement 19th century interiors, portraits and still lifes by Franz Xavier Winterhalter, John Flaxman, Theodore Rousseau and Carl Vilhelm Holsoe. Works by American artists William Merritt Chase, George Bellows, Aaron Shikler and Frederick Judd Waugh represent the burgeoning strength of American art movements at the beginning of the 20th century. Other highlights include a painting by André Brasillier titled Les Cavaliers, and a beautiful impression of The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai.
