The Saturday sale opens with an exciting collection of 16th-18th century documents, signatures and letters compiled by Edgar Guest, Detroit newspaper man and American poet. Contained within three bound books are 114 documents from highly significant historical British figures or their affiliates, including Kings James I and II, Kings Charles I and II, Richard Cromwell, George Boleyn, Princess Louise, and many others. Immediately following is a beautifully carved marble sculpture by the 19th century American artist Chauncey Bradley Ives; a French bronze sculpture by Charles Chenier; an art deco dinanderie vase by Christofle; and an exquisite Baccarat Buttercup paperweight, mid 19th century. Additionally, from various private collectors: paintings by John Bond Francisco, Florine A. Hyer, Armand Henrion, and others; Dresden porcelain lamps, sconces, and compotes, as well as a large covered urn by the Carl Thieme Factory; a Pairpoint boudoir lamp and a Puffy shade; contemporary mahogany furniture by Baker; a Regina disc music box; dinner services by Spode, Minton, and Limoges; Chinese porcelains and Japanese masks; oriental rugs from semi antique to modern; and a large variety of jewelry, including Rolex and Baume & Mercier watches over 100 lots.
