Chinese and Himalayan Works of Art

The spring series of Hindman’s Asian art sales concludes with a marquis auction of Chinese and Himalayan Works of Art on Tuesday, March 29th. Highlights include several lots of archaic Chinese bronzes vessels, including an important Fangding from a long-standing Northeastern private collection. In addition to many exciting porcelains sourced from various estates and private collections, collectors can anticipate a selection of fine Chinese paintings from the Michigan collection of Pauline and Seymour Kavesky, and as well as an eighteenth century landscape album by Li Yu from collector Dr. S.R. Peterson. Other notable offerings include jade and jadeite pieces from the estate of Hizaso Nagatani, former manager of the Yamanaka & Co. Chicago branch, and a selection of high-quality scholar’s objects and furniture, including an exceptional huanghuali seal chest, from Williamsburg, Virginia collectors Bruce and Eleanor Knowles. The Himalayan section of the sale includes a number of gilt bronze figures from the estate of W.M. Bogdanowicz and other private collections. This auction is complimented by the Asian Works of Art Online auction, open exclusively for bidding on Hindman.
