Possessions of JP Morgan from Corsair 1890

Historically important items from JP Morgans 1890 yacht. 220 pieces of Mintons china owned by JP Morgan for use on his 1890 yacht Corsair. Each piece has the Mintons stamp of a red circle with a crown which represents the manufacturing period of 1873 - 1912. This china was used to entertain guests and friends such as Mark Twain, Thomas Edison,Theodore Roosevelt, William Randolph Hearst, Joseph Pulitzer, Henry Ford etc... Other Morgan owned items in the sale will include a silver Tiffany ashtray and cigar cutter bearing the Morgan crest of a crescent moon and star, a set of ivory poker chips from Corsair by Black Starr and Frost, a magnificent custom silver dolphin lamp, photos of the steam yacht Corsair and many other important possessions of JP Morgan. The spectacular 30' tender, built by Herreshoff, from the port side of Corsair III will be a feature item. The auction will also include elegant nautical antiques including 40 model boats, lanterns and light fixtures, prints, paintings, game tables, furniture and gentlemen’s antiques.
