Fall Fashion & Accessories

Hindman's Fall Fashion & Luxury Accessories auction presents a collection of items dating from every decade of past 120 years. The property in this auction was gathered from around the United States, from New York to Los Angeles and from Palm Beach to Chicago, including rare and fresh to the market items from private collections and museum archives. The auction opens with a collection of Edwardian and Flapper-Era garments and accessories, followed by women's WWII uniforms, and several exciting examples of the top post-war designers, such as Christian Dior, Lili Ann, Irene, and several haute couture creations from Balenciaga, Jean Patou, Yves Saint Laurent, and a Givenchy design worn by American Actress Carroll Baker when she attended the 1962 Academy Awards and presented an Oscar. Additional noteworthy items include a collection of Playboy illustrations by some of the top names in fashion and costume design, such as Edith Head and Oleg Cassini. The 1970-80s are well documented in this auction with several important designs by Halston, Madame Gres, James Galanos, Yves Saint Laurent, and Norma Kamali. Also from this era is a small but important collection of designs by the late Issey Miyake, including a three-piece ensemble from 1975. The largest portion of this auction contains contemporary fashion and accessories made over the past decade, including important collections from Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Hermes. The Louis Vuitton collection contains several examples of the popular monogram canvas bags, while the Hermes collection boasts numerous examples of scarves by Kermit Oliver from a private collection, and lastly, the Chanel collection is the largest of any designer, with examples ranging from the 1960s to 2019.
