Lalique only
This time, the auction 'Lalique only' on November 08 keeps on hand a special piece of contemporary history from the Pavillon Lalique of 1925.
In 1925 the 'Exposition internationale des Arts Décoratifs et industriels modernes' opened its doors in Paris. It?s this exhibition that gave the ?Art Deco? epoch its name. The Pavillon Lalique was one of the most popular visitor attractions. René Lalique wowed all the critics with the magnificent design of the dining room installed there. The flanks of the room were adorned with two imposing console tables made of solid marble, decorated with a delicate vine frieze. We have the pleasure to offer you one of these two pieces in the upcoming auction. The motif of the vine tendrils can also be found on the two electrified candlesticks 'Trois branches raisins'. A design from 1924, which was also used in the decor of the dining room in question.
Wings spread, the swallows glide down to the stylized nest on the decoration of the rare ?Hirondelles? ceiling light. A wonderful example that demonstrates René Lalique's outstanding powers of observation of nature.
The beautiful selection of bowls and plates takes the viewer into fabulous underwater worlds. Whether fish and aquatic plants, as represented in the 'Poissons', 'Roscoff' and 'Actinia' decors, or fantastic nymphs - Lalique's sources of inspiration seem inexhaustible and have not lost their appeal to this day.
Be enchanted by the works during our preview from 03 to 07 November.
