Robert and Nancy Nooter Fine Art Auction
For over five decades, Robert and Nancy Nooter were prolific, world famous collectors of African and Tribal art, having associations with many museums, galleries and institutions the world over. Along with tribal pieces, they also collected fine art and prints. We have been very fortunate to acquire their partial estate, and we are beginning the Nooter auctions with the American and European art. Tribal pieces will be offered in part two and three, this art sale being part one. Highlights include an original Gene Davis painting, acquired directly from the artist in 1972. Another Washington DC colorist represented in this sale is Sam Gilliam, with an original signed silkscreen. Diebenkorn and Hockney prints are included, along with a rare Fritz Scholder American Indian monotype. Another key piece is an original 1917 Max Beckmann PROSIT NEUJAHR etching. The art shown in this sale is offered with NO RESERVES beyond our very competitive opening bids.
