June Gallery Auction

June features “Ira Yeager | Town & Country,†properties, from one of California’s ideosyncratic, humorous artists, including furniture and home decorations that were in Yaeger’s own homes and studio. Ira wrote “Painting is my life (life blood and life force) – for me an everlasting quest in exploration of the various levels of my consciousness and creativity.†Michaan’s Gallery Auction starts off with the Furniture and Decorative Arts section. This section of the gallery auction features Cambodian .800 and .900 silver hollowware articles; a Louis XVI style Boulle bureau mazarin; and an interesting ethnographic section featuring an Ifugao Bulul mounted human trophy skull. The Fine Arts section has a strong showing of American artists including Tomi D. Kobara, Raphael Lillywhite, Irwin Luckman and Maurice Braun. Many galleries and Museums have included sculptures by the Ukrainian-American artist Alexander Archipenko (1887 Ukraine - 1964, New York). Michaan’s is proud to be offering Archipenko’s inscribed marble sculpture, Female Figure. Michaan’s will also be offering a wonderful grouping of pocket watches in the jewelry section. Pocket watches are a timeless collectible that are always highly sought out. This grouping features a Geo C. Shreve & Co. Silver Minute Repeater Pocket Watch. Also being offered in the jewelry section is a stunning Mikimoto cultured pearl necklace, and a diamond ring that is over 2.5 carats. The Asian art section of the gallery auction features wide variety of ceramic vessels including a yellow glazed altar vessel, a pink monochrome vase, a large blue and white underglaze red “deer and pine trees†vase, and a blue and white moon flask vase.
