Autumn Majestic - Day Two

Join us for our final three-day feature auction of 2023. Featuring a masterful selection of fine art, antiques, and 20th century decorative items, this is a sale that is sure to please. On Saturday, we will present paintings by Alfred Sisley, Pierre Renoir, John Frederick Kensett, George Inness, Alvan Fisher, James Buttersworth, Gerrit Dou, Thomas Birch, Joseph Goodhue Chandler, Louis Moeller, and others. Leading the folk-art selection will be a monumental 19th c. carved, full bodied eagle by Joseph Wilson; and the marine category will feature a pair of copper anchor lights from the RMS Queen Mary, as well as the ship’s electric fire alarm station. We will offer 9 lots of early tea caddies, a selection of clocks, and a large group of antique furniture led by an 18th c. Canadian pine step back cupboard and Federal period Sheraton sideboard made for US Navy Captain Joseph Whitmore in 1929. Early silver will be led by an 18th C. George II sterling silver lidded bowl by Robert Cox; and porcelain/pottery will include early stoneware, plus redware and crocks. The 105-lot collection of Chinese antiques will offer a Ming Dynasty polychromed wood Guanyin figure, and a Tang Dynasty glazed tomb guardian. Rounding out the day will be selections of antiquities; Persian, Middle Eastern and Indian artifacts; European interiors; and oriental carpets.
