The Kit Carson Indian Relic Collection

Overstreet is pleased to offer the Kit Carson Indian Relic Collection of Waverly, Tennessee. Mr. Carson was host of the Waverly Indian Artifact Show sponsored by the Tenn. Archeological Society for many years. Kit amassed a great number of quality personal finds from the Humphreys Co., Tennessee area. He, with fellow hunters, was credited with the discovery of an important Paleo-Indian site, the Carson-Conn-Short site, located near KY Lake in Benton Co., Tennessee. Studies there by the Tenn. Dept. of Anthropology were published in The Paleo-Indian and Early Archaic Southeast by The University of Alabama Press. Mr. Carson's contributions to the study of the Paleo-Indian are noted in the publication, and in other publications by The Center for The Study of the First Americans by Oregon State University. For over 40 years, Kit received great enjoyment from collecting and displaying his collection to all that visited his private museum. All items within his collection are personal finds, with the exception of a frame of Western bird points (given to him as a gift), and much of his pottery, which was acquired from lifelong friend and well known Tennessee collector, John Delime. This Auction will provide authentic items for all collecting interests, with many fine museum quality and high-grade artifacts. Please take advantage of this opportunity to collect a piece of authentic and well-documented prehistoric history. This is an Overstreet Certified Auction. Overstreet is dedicated to the future study and collecting of all legally obtained authentic prehistoric Native American artifacts. We do not promote the sale of modern reproductions or fakes. All artifacts in this Auction have been screened for authenticity, and for alterations of any kind. The artifacts offered, unless specifically stated otherwise, have been found to be 100% authentic and unaltered.
