Antiques & Fine Art

Welcome to Fellows spring catalogue sale of Antiques & Fine Art. We hope that you find something to interest you amongst a wide selection of items from many areas of collecting. For ceramics enthusiasts, perennial favourite Royal Doulton features prominently in the sale. From the early days of the factory?s output we have ?The Goose Girl?, HN559, possibly the only example of this rare earthenware version of figure to be offered at auction. From more recent times are a number of limited edition figures such as ?Jack Point? ?Children of the Blitz?, ?Columbus? and a large version of the jester ?Jack Point?. For more traditional tastes we also have two good Meissen examples, the first an imposing ?Four Seasons? centrepiece, the second a ?Harlequin? group after J. J. Kandler. A comprehensive ?Collector?s Items? section runs the spectrum from ivories through tribal items to books ? and in particular a fascinating collection of ?Goad? insurance plan street maps of principal towns of the West Indies, dated 1895-1897. These plans denoted different uses and class of housing, so giving a real insight into ?Colonial? administration of the late Victorian era. Also on offer is a plan of suggested improvements to the bridges of London, dated 1800, including a fold-out example almost two metres wide. From the 1862 London Exhibition we have a three-volume set detailing fine works of art across three hundred high quality colour plates. For our antipodean friends we also have a leather-bound Australian book, one of only six produced in a deluxe edition. In other areas of collecting we have a group of marine items, to include a brass compass and binnacle on teak pedestal, plus an Allchin scale model steam traction engine - which took seven years to build!
