Modern Art & Design Auction

The May 19, 2013 Modern Art & Design Auction will include a never before seen Vija Celmins painting from 1964, Untitled (Knife and Dish), which is being sold for the first time by its original owners. Additional paintings of note include a Larry Rivers painting, White Camel (1980), a large canvas portraying one of his most iconic images, and a Billy Al Bengston painting from 1960, Count Dracula at the Chessboard, acquired from Ferus Gallery by Betty Asher. Other Fine Art highlights include Andy Warhol's Liz (1965), a David Hockney swimming pool lithograph (1978-80), and a selection of Hard Edge School paintings, which includes an early work by Karl Benjamin. Design highlights include a selection of lighting by Serge Mouille, a George Nakashima custom table from 1963, a large offering of Walter Lamb designs, an "Ox" chair and ottoman by Hans Wegner, as well as ceramics by Peter Voulkos, Gertrud & Otto Natzler, and Malcolm Leland.
