Russian Posters

Up for sale come over 140 Soviet propaganda posters issued between 1918 and 1964. Works of leading Soviet propaganda artists of are well represented, with Civil War years posters by Moor, Deni, and Kochergin, a very early political poster by Kukryniksy, and numerous works by Efimov, Koretsky and Dolgorukov. Other highlights include two intriguing 1920s posters produced by artists of the Mayakovsky's circle, with text we were dearly tempted to attribute to the poet himself, and a rare survivng Leningrad TASS Windows poster of the Siege period. Together, the posters offered provide a unique glimpse at the turbulent history of the Soviet state.
