Pook & Pook kicks off spring with a 2-day 2-catalogue sale! On April 25th, Pook & Pook, Inc. is selling the Estate of Marion and Donald Woelbing of Franklin, Wisconsin. The collection includes a wonderful assortment of Pilgrim Century, William & Mary and Queen Anne furniture, portraits, weathervanes, pewter, Swedish and Norwegian antiques, etc. The Friday session continues with fine Chinese porcelains from a New York gentleman, fine art from a Pennsylvania collection, folk art and pottery from a New York collection, and paintings from a Pennsylvania educational institution. Highlights include a watercolor portraits by Henry Walton, Tiffany and Handel lamps, Shenandoah Valley, Virginia pottery, a George Ohr puzzle jug, a painted kas, several painted dower chests, and a large burl bowl and approximately 100 lots of Chinese porcelains. Many well known artists? works will be sold on Friday. These include Andrew Wyeth collotypes, Ben Austrian, Walter Baum, George Sotter, John Folinsbee, Antonio Jacobsen, Barclay Rubincam, Eric Sloan, and many others. Of interest is a Pablo Picasso ceramic tete au masque plate stamped ?Madoura?. Saturday begins with outstanding pieces from the estate of Marie Schwarz of Philadelphia. A selection of autographed ephemera are the next items offered on Saturday. These include letters signed by Benjamin Franklin and Benedict Arnold. Other interesting lots are Anthony Wayne?s account book for his tannery business in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and a George Washington signed military appointment from 1795. The sale continues with a wide array of furniture, porcelains, folk art, and portraits from various estates. The final section of the auction comes from The People?s Place in Intercourse, Pennsylvania. Included are dioramas by Aaron K.
