The Joel Malter Collection of Archaeology & Antique Reference - Americana from the Doyce B. Nunis, Jr. Library (with additions). Over 300 lots from the libraries of Joel Malter, and Doyce B. Nunis, Jr. (with additions), and a small group of shelves from a prominent golf library.
The Joel Malter collection is comprised of archaeology, anthropology, and art historical texts and reference works, most with numerous beautiful illustrations, and some quite scarce. The works explore antiquities and humanities around the globe from Japanese Netsuke to the tombs of Egypt. There is a diverse selection of general reference works for coins, medals, ceramics, sculpture and decorative art from the Middle East to Pre-Columbia to ancient China. Several lots include ten or more reference works, ideal for the student and the curious.
Also includes numerous shelves of Americana, plus a small offering of framed maps and prints, from the library of Doyce B. Nunis, Jr., educator, author, historian, professor at the University of Southern California and editor of the Quarterly of the Historical Society of Southern California.
Additionally, there are twenty lots of golf books, balls, and other memorabilia from a prominent California golf library. Offered for sale without reserve, these lots feature mostly shelves of ten or more golf books on instruction, course architecture, and history.
